CONDITIONS

Vertebrogenic pain is a type of chronic lower back pain that originates from damaged or inflamed vertebral endplates, the structures that separate the bones of the spine from the intervertebral discs. These changes can irritate the basivertebral nerve, which carries pain signals from within the vertebral bones. Symptoms often include deep, aching lower back pain that may worsen with prolonged sitting, bending forward, lifting, or everyday movements.

At Allay Spine & Pain Management, we provide personalized vertebrogenic pain treatment options designed to address the underlying source of discomfort and improve spinal function. Through advanced diagnostic evaluations and minimally invasive pain management procedures, our team works to identify patients who may benefit from targeted treatments such as basivertebral nerve ablation. Our goal is to help patients manage persistent lower back pain, improve mobility, and return to daily activities with greater comfort and confidence.

Our treatment options focus on relieving discomfort, reducing symptoms, and improving mobility and function. Through personalized care, we help patients manage pain, tingling, and numbness that can interfere with everyday activities.

Vertebrogenic pain is chronic lower back pain originating from damaged vertebral endplates. Degenerative changes and inflammation can irritate the basivertebral nerve, causing persistent discomfort. These changes are often associated with characteristic findings called Modic changes on an MRI.

Common symptoms include deep, aching pain in the lower back that may worsen with sitting, bending forward, lifting, or prolonged activity. Vertebrogenic pain typically affects the lower back rather than causing prominent radiating nerve pain down the legs.

Treatment depends on the severity of symptoms, MRI findings, and response to conservative care. Options may include physical therapy, medications, and basivertebral nerve ablation for appropriately selected patients with persistent vertebrogenic pain.

Yes. Many patients begin with non-surgical treatments such as physical therapy, exercise, and medications. Basivertebral nerve ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that may be considered when conservative treatments have not provided sufficient relief.

Basivertebral nerve ablation uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt pain signals carried by the basivertebral nerve within the vertebral body. It may provide long-term pain reduction in selected patients, although individual results vary.
